Thanks: 1 Thanked:0 | HIV symptoms, negative tests Posted: 05-12-08 05:23am | | addthis_pub = 'ehealthforum'; addthis_brand = 'eHealth Forum'; | | Hi, I have a story about 8 months length. I am from Europe and at SEP 2007 I had vocation in Turkey. I met a Turkish male and we had unprotected sex 4 times, 2 times protected sex. After I came back, I started to have health problems. - swollen lymphs, red neck, fever, white tounge, oral trush, night and day sweats, rash on body - like from the book. That time I breastfeeded my two years old baby. After some time she started to have the same symptoms +vomiting, running nose all the time, geographic tongue. For all this time I have made ~20 HIV tests - Elisa 4th generation, one test for my baby too. After 8 months thanks Good, all negative, but symptoms still are present. Could Elisa test not catch some rare strains that are in Turkey and Egypt. What could else it be??? Do I need to test for virus not antibodies? Please help, I am so scared for my baby. please...

You should have a blood test done and have the doctor check for any and all STDs, not just HIV. Make sure you tell your doctor of all your symptoms. Do not leave anything out. Write them all down so that when you get to the doctors office you don't forget to mention anything. Also have them take your child's blood for testing. It could be a number of things so have them take a blood sample and tell them to test for everything that they can think of. Good luck to you and your child and let us know how you 2 are doing. Do not worry. You will get the answers to the problem. Just be vigilant .

If you have been tested over and over and it comes back negative then accept it. Be happy it isn't HIV and find out what it is by being pro active and talking openly and honestly to your doctor. Your child does not need to have a parent who is over reacting and guilt ridden. Get it together for the babies sake and do the right thing. If all the doctors and clinics are saying you are HIV- then you are HIV-. It almost sounds like you are disappointed with the results. You don't know how lucky you are. I have AIDS. It is not glamorous or something you would wish on any one. Accept the test results and concentrate on what the real problem is. Find out. You know it isn't HIV. So tell your doctor and move on to other tests. You are a parent so do the right thing for the sake of your child. And never cheat on your spouse again. I am sure it was not worth the torture and heartache...

Thanks: 1 Thanked:0 | Posted: 07-09-08 11:47am | | | | Hello, it's me again! I know You said I don't have HIV, but it is still hard to believe in that. I have visited so many doctors, I have made so many tests for different illnesses, for my baby also, but have now answers. Nobody can say anything what is wrong with me. All this time 11 months now I have this sore throat, dry mouth and white tongue. I hurt my fingers very much. And this horrible sweating at nights. I have no explanation for this. My baby also has all the symptoms + she has styes all the time. And my husband also. I am so afraid, I live in nightmare. My CD4 count dropped from 40% to 38% in 2 months. I am so afraid that Axsym abbott combo test can not find some rare starin (N or O), because I know this man has lived in Egypt. Please, please, don't angry, I am so sad, feel guilty and desperate. Help me.

Tell him how the symptoms have been transfered from you to the baby and onto your beloved husband. Have you been treated for the chlamydia? Were you and your child checked for the same? If nothing is done, do you realise that you will continue to infect each other? If I were you, I would be straight with my husband and I would stop breastfeeding
The drop of your CD4 cells is not significant.
The Elisa test should be able to detect antibodies being produced because the body is fighting HIV. No matter the strain my dear.
I have had AIDS for 15 years and I too think you should accept the fact that you don't have it and start to work with the doctors to find out what else it might be.
I am sure you have learned your lesson about cheating. Very dangerous game.
All the best to you and your beloved family.

Thanks: 5 Thanked:0 | Test Posted: 08-03-08 16:59pm | | | | I want to ask that P24AG duo and PCR tests accurate. In earliy can I trust this results. For P24AG 36. day result and 40.day PCR result. Is this tests results false or true. Or I must wait the 3.mounth eliza or 6.mounth eliza.? Lastly this early test detects good results? I am 47.day now. I make P24Ag DUO test on 36.day it is negative. And 40.day PCR molekuler test. I wait its result. I know that this test are expensive. But, I dont want to wait 6.mounth. It is so bad for me.

Just make sure you don't go nuts. I personally prefer blood tests at 90 days and then after another 90 days. I did not understand the abbreviations so it hard to explain anything. But you take it easy.
If taking tests in between helps your days to go smooth, then do it. No harm done. You know what I mean?

But now is 46.day then I think you know that some labaratory make early test. Antibody Eliza can not give correct results before 90.days. But this antijen tests. I ask this tests. Can ı trust them? I live in turkey. Some doctors said that the main test is Eliza if 6.mounth it is negative. It is negative. You must wait 180 days for test. Some doctors said that P24AG and PCR test are good test. If they are negative. You trust them. Pls help me about that. I always think it. Which one is correct ?

Thanks: 1 Thanked:0 | Posted: 08-05-08 11:10am | | | | Hi, all of You!
It is me, Lilu, again. I made my 48 week test and it is Negative!!!! Thanks God! But there is one But - symptoms. They still are with my and my baby. We both have so terrible white (like geographic) tongues and now we have styes in eyes all the time. My babies doctor says it is some kind of infection, but she can not find anything. My CD4 count dropped from 780 to 730 (40% to 36%) in 3 months. That is why I can not believe in my test results. Homerx, what do You think, am I free from HIV, do I have to stop testing? What else could make drop my CD4? I have lived in nightmare one Year, I can not take it anymore. God bless all of You! love, Lilu

Write down all of your symptoms and take them with you to the doctor, tell your doctor that you have been tested for HIV and that it isn't HIV. It could be a number of things. Many things can make your CD4 count go down including infection..if they tested you for HIV and it came back negative then you need to move on and figure out what the problem is. it isn't HIV if the tests say it isn't..it could be something in your house that your breathing or something since it is affecting both you and your child..keep me posted as to how it goes. I will say a prayer for you. Please, follow up with your doctor and tell them everything and insist on more tests so we can solve this. Love,Homer
